The Port Moody Panthers announced today that the ownership group led by Dennis Obcena and Frank Iantorno have concluded a transaction that brings new ownership to the team.
The transfer of ownership was approved by all nine Pacific Junior Hockey League governors at a board meeting last month.
One of the first organizational changes the new owners made was to bring aboard Peter Zerbinos as General Manager. Zerbinos takes over from Obcena in the GM role.
Zerbinos has a long history in the PJHL with the Delta Ice Hawks, where he spent six seasons as Director of Hockey Operations and two seasons as General Manager. During his time in Delta, the Ice Hawks made the playoffs each season, winning the PJHL championship in 2012 and advancing to the PJHL final series in 2010.
"We are excited about the challenge that lies ahead with the Panthers. We plan to reach out to all eligible returning players to gauge where they're at," said Zerbinos. "We also feel there's a passionate group of fans, businesses, and community partners in Port Moody, and we have very ambitious ideas and visions for the Panthers."
