Announcing the 2025-26 Panthers Team Award Winners

The Port Moody Panthers are proud to announce the winners of the club’s annual team awards for the 2025-26 season. The awards recognize outstanding individual performances and contributions both on and off the ice throughout the year.

Dane Svingen-Jones: Best Forward and Most Valuable Player

Svingen-Jones delivered a dominant campaign in 2025-26, earning both Best Forward and Most Valuable Player honours. A consistent offensive driver, Svingen-Jones led the Panthers’ attack with 41 goals and 66 points, while also playing key minutes in all situations.

Night after night, he was the engine of the Panthers’ offence, producing in crucial moments and setting a new franchise record for goals in a season at 41. His 66 points also stand as the fourth-highest in a single season in franchise history. Earning both of these awards shows Svingen-Jones’ importance to the Panthers’ overall success this season.

Beckham Angus: Unsung Hero

Angus is the Panthers’ Unsung Hero, recognizing his invaluable contributions that often go beyond the scoresheet. Whether in key defensive situations, penalty killing, or providing energy and offence, Angus consistently delivered.

His reliability and team-first approach made him a trusted presence throughout the lineup and a critical component of the Panthers’ identity.

Bradley Thompson: Most Inspirational Player

Thompson’s leadership and perseverance have earned him the Most Inspirational Player award. Through his work ethic, attitude, and commitment to the Panthers, he set a powerful example for his teammates all season long.

His ability to elevate those around him – both on the ice and in the room – made him a driving force in maintaining a positive and competitive culture within the Panthers organization. He finishes his Panthers career in fourth place in all-time games played at 134.

Ryan Sam: Best Defender

Sam is the recipient of the Best Defender award following another strong and steady season on the Panthers’ blue line. Demonstrating poise under pressure, strong positioning, and the ability to contribute in transition, Sam anchored the Panthers’ defensive corps.

His consistency and ability to log significant minutes against top competition made him an essential piece of the Panthers’ defensive structure. Sam led all defenders in scoring in 2025-26, with six goals and 35 points.

He also set a franchise record with 174 games played. Additionally, Sam set new records for assists (65) and points (75) among defenders. His career assist total also stands as the fourth-most all-time in franchise history.

Isaac Cheng: Most Improved Player

Cheng’s development over the course of the season has earned him Most Improved Player honours. Showing significant growth in all areas of his game, Cheng took major strides in both confidence and execution, finishing with seven assists in 30 games.

His progression not only elevated his individual performance but also added important depth and versatility to the Panthers’ blueline.

Ayden Butler: Rookie of the Year

Butler made an immediate impact in his first full season with the Panthers, earning Rookie of the Year recognition. Bringing energy, skill, and composure beyond his experience, Butler quickly established himself as a reliable presence on defence.

His strong first junior hockey season highlights a promising future both on and off the ice.

Dave Poulin: Heart and Soul Award

Poulin is the recipient of the Heart and Soul Award, recognizing his passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the team. Embodying the Panthers’ values every time he set foot in the arena, Poulin’s effort level and dedication set the tone for the group.

Reid Demelo: Celebrating 10 Years with the Panthers

The Panthers are proud to recognize Reider for his 10-year commitment to the organization. Over the past decade, Reid has exemplified dedication and pride in the Panthers crest.

His long-standing contribution to the team and the community represents a significant milestone and a lasting legacy within the franchise.
