The Port Moody Panthers today announced the signing of 2007-born forward Dane Svingen-Jones for the 2024-25 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.
Svingen-Jones, who’s from Port Coquitlam, spent this past season with the Burnaby Winter Club Under-17 Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s U17 division. In 31 games, he tallied 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points, adding three goals and an assist in five CSSHL U17 playoff games.
When it comes to joining the Panthers, Svingen-Jones is looking forward to moving up from BWC Academy. “I am excited to play for the Panthers because I am going to challenge myself to play at a higher skill level for a great local team,” said Svingen-Jones.
“My goals for the upcoming season are to improve my conditioning so that I am faster on the ice and can keep up with the high level of intensity that is at the Tier 2 Junior A level. I also want to keep developing my on-ice skills so I can be a positive asset to the team,” added Svingen-Jones, who describes himself as the type of forward to make an impact at both ends of the ice.
“I am a strong, two-way player who can contribute offensively, but can also be counted on in defensive situations. I have a high level of hockey IQ and I am able to predict where the play is going and position myself accordingly to make the right play.”
Svingen-Jones spent the 2022-23 season with the Yale Hockey Academy U17 squad in the CSSHL U17 division and finished with six goals and three assists for nine points in 30 games.
Svingen-Jones joins defender Adam Lian and forward Brady Beliveau as three incoming players to sign with the Panthers for the 2024-25 PJHL season.
