Kyung Bock High School defender Brandon Jung signs with the Panthers

The Port Moody Panthers are excited to announce the signing of 2004-born defender Brandon Jung for the 2022-23 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.

Jung, from Ann Arbour, MI, spent the first half of this season with Kyung Bock High School in the Korean High School League. He also played for Kyung Bock High in 2021-22 and posted a goal and four assists in seven games.

The 18-year-old skated for Korea at the International Ice Hockey Federation World U18 Division II – Group A Championship in Estonia this past April and was an alternate captain for the team. Jung notched one assist in five games and was named player of the game in Korea’s 9-0 win over Romania in the final matchup of the tournament.

Korea finished with a tournament-best 4-1 record and has been promoted to Division I – Group B for next year’s championship.

Jung didn’t play anywhere of record during the 2020-21 season but was with the Okanagan Hockey Academy Elite 15s in the Canadian Sport School Hockey U16 League in 2019-20. In 35 games at OHA that season, he tallied four goals and 11 points.

He is expected to make his Panthers debut on Thursday on the road against Richmond, wearing number 15.
