Langley Hockey Academy U18 forward Nicolas Lee signs with the Panthers

The Port Moody Panthers today announced the signing of 2006-born forward Nicolas Lee for the 2023-24 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.

Lee played 33 games for the Langley Hockey Academy U18 team in the Junior Prospects Hockey League during the 2022-23 season, finishing with three goals and eight points as a 16-year-old.

He was with the Burnaby Winter Club U16 Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League in 2021-22 and posted five goals and 12 points. Lee is enthused about joining the Panthers for the upcoming season.

“I am very excited to play with the Panthers this year because of the amazing coaching staff that can help me get to the next level,” said Lee, who hails from Burnaby. “Also, all the players I’ve met are very nice and took me in last year, always helping me out and showing me the ropes. Lastly, Port Moody is a great organization and I look forward to being a part of it.”

Lee anticipates playing a specific role in the Panthers’ lineup this season. “Some goals I’ve set for this upcoming season are playing my role as an energy guy. I’m not afraid of going into the corners to get the puck and bringing a physical presence. I’ve been working out all summer and getting stronger while also working on my skills. Lastly, my main goal is to work hard and move myself up the lineup to help the team.”

He sees himself as a multi-faceted forward who prides himself on playing a physical game. “My playing style is as an energy guy who likes to be physical as well as a goal scorer. I can create space for myself as well as my teammates. I’m very good in the corners and getting on loose pucks. My biggest strengths are making big hits and my speed,” Lee added.

Lee joins forwards Wesley Suszezwiez, Marcus Lindholm, and Mark Wu, defenders Matthew Kim and Ethan Chu, and goaltender Ty Angus as six incoming players to sign with the Panthers for the 2023-24 PJHL season.
