The Port Moody Panthers are excited to announce the signing of 2004-born forward Ty Balchen for the 2022-23 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.
Balchen, a resident of North Vancouver, played with his hometown U18 A1 Tier 1 team in 2021-22 and was an alternate captain. He was also a teammate of fellow incoming Panthers forward Nick Dunn.
“I’m excited about playing in Port Moody with the Panthers because of their proven ability to develop players and help them move on to the next level of hockey,” said Balchen.
Balchen has played in the North Vancouver Minor Hockey Association for his entire hockey career, including with the U18 squad over the last two seasons. He looks forward to wearing a Panthers jersey as part of the journey to advance his hockey career.
“My goals now that I have signed with my first junior hockey team are to come in and have a positive impact on the group and continue to develop on and off the ice,” added Balchen.
He is expected to add skill and scoring to the Panthers’ forward group this coming season.
“I would describe myself as a playmaking forward who has good puck skills and is able to effectively generate offence,” mentioned Balchen.
Balchen joins Matthew Ng and Nick Dunn as recruited players committed to the Panthers for the 2022-23 PJHL season thus far.
