The Port Moody Panthers today announced the hiring of Joseph Agosti as the team’s colour commentator for the 2024-25 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.
Agosti graduated from the BCIT Broadcast and Online Journalism Program in June. He has experience with the Port Coquitlam Trailblazers during the 2023-24 season as a fill-in play-by-play announcer and is currently an intern/communications assistant for the Vancouver Bandits of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
“I am a diehard hockey fan as well as a passionate supporter of local athletics,” said Agosti. “Having just finished journalism school, it was a goal of mine to work in the sports media industry, and I felt that the Port Moody Panthers organization was the perfect fit.”
He also served as a hockey writer for MarkerZone.com last summer and spent time as a columnist for the student newspaper while he was attending Douglas College in 2021 and 2022. In addition to his writing and play-by-play experience, Agosti was also an intern at Sportsnet 650 radio in Vancouver last fall.
Agosti takes over from Chris Georges and Jordan Wong, who shared the role last season and have stepped down from the Panthers broadcast due to scheduling conflicts with their other work commitments.
