Panthers forward Ryden Mathieson among the PJHL’s three players of the week

Port Moody Panthers forward Ryden Mathieson has been named one of the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s players of the week for the week ending Dec. 4.

Mathieson, who’s affiliated with the BCHL’s Coquitlam Express this season, recorded six points on the strength of two goals and four assists as the Panthers went 1-1-0 last week. The Panthers’ winger had two assists to help Port Moody to a 4-1 road win over Surrey on Thursday.

The Panthers’ alternate captain tallied a season-high two goals and two assists in a 7-5 loss to the Langley Trappers on Saturday.

Mathieson now has 10 goals on the season, which matches his entire output in 40 games last season. He is second on the Panthers in goals (10) and points (21). The Langley product is tied for the Panthers’ lead in power play points with six.

He is the second Panthers player to be named one of the PJHL’s players of the week this season after captain Daniel Dallapace earned the honour at the beginning of October.
