Panthers sign forward Pahul Rai for the 2026-27 season

The Port Moody Panthers announced today that the team has signed 2007-born forward Pahul Rai for the 2026-27 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.

Rai spent 2025-26 with the Surrey Minor Hockey Association U21 team. Before that, he played the 2024-25 campaign with Surrey MHA U18 A1 Thunder.

“I’m really excited to join the Panthers because I’ve heard a lot of great things about the organization, the coaching staff, and the team culture,” said Rai. “I’m looking forward to being part of a competitive group, learning from the coaching staff and my teammates, and getting the opportunity to contribute to the team. I’m excited to get to work and see what we can accomplish together this season.”

The forward’s playing history in the Surrey MHA system also includes time spent at both the U18 A1 Tier 2 and U18 A2 Tier 3 levels during the 2023-24 season.

“My biggest goal this season is to help the team compete for and ultimately win a championship,” noted Rai. “On an individual level, I want to continue developing my game, become a more complete player, and take another step forward both on and off the ice. I’m looking forward to learning from my teammates and coaches and becoming a better player and person throughout the season.”

Throughout his time with Surrey MHA, Rai established himself as a versatile, hard-working option in the forward group.

“I’d describe myself as a two-way, 200-foot forward who tries to contribute wherever I can,” explained Rai. “I like to move the puck, get pucks to the net and out in front for my teammates, and use my vision to make plays. I have a good shot, and I’m not afraid to battle for pucks and play a physical game when needed. I just try to work hard, compete in all areas of the ice, and be someone my teammates and coaches can rely on.”

Rai made his Panthers’ debut on Sept. 11 in Aldergrove as Port Moody won 3-1 over the Ironmen.
