The Port Moody Panthers announced today that they have signed 2008-born goaltender Jacob Wang for the 2026-27 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.
Wang spent last season with Venom HC U18 AAA in the Premier Hockey League U18, posting a 5.28 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage in seven games, and was also signed to the Burnaby Minor Hockey Association U18 team. He spent the 2026 PJHL playoffs skating with the Langley Trappers.
Before that, the 5-foot-11, 168-pound netminder played three games for the Bellingham Blazers in the USPHL Premier during the 2024-25 campaign, recording a 3.22 GAA, a .916 save percentage, and a 1-1-0 record.
“I’m most excited about getting an opportunity to play, compete and battle with my teammates,” said Wang about playing in Port Moody with the Panthers.
During the 2023-24 season, Wang suited up for both Burnaby Minor U18 A1 and U18 A2 teams. Before that, he spent the 2022-23 season with the Vancouver NW Hawks U15 AAA team in the BC Elite Hockey League, compiling a 3.66 GAA and five wins over 16 regular-season games, alongside four playoff appearances.
“My biggest goal for this season is to help my teammates get better and have the team compete at the highest level and have success,” noted Wang.
Before advancing to the BCEHL U15 AAA ranks, Wang developed within the Burnaby Minor Hockey program.
“I describe myself as an athletic and flexible goalie who does not stop battling,” explained Wang.
He was recently in training camp with the Burnaby Steelers of the BC Hockey Conference and got into two pre-season games with them.
Wang made his Panthers debut on Sept. 11 in Aldergrove and made 31 saves to earn his first career PJHL win.
