Panthers to participate in PJHL Sunshine Coast Showcase

The Port Moody Panthers are proud to announce they will participate in the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s Sunshine Coast Showcase Series this season.

The Panthers will take on the Richmond Sockeyes, hosted by the Sunshine Coast Junior Hockey Society at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre, on Saturday, Jan. 28. The two teams face off at 4:15 pm.

“We’d like to have another look at the coast, bring more of our teams and ownership groups to see what the Sunshine Coast has to offer,” said PJHL Commissioner Trevor Alto. “If it’s anything like the first series (between North Van and Chilliwack), our players are in for a thrill.”

The matchup on Jan. 28 between Port Moody and Richmond will be the final regular season meeting between the two clubs.

“The opportunity to participate in the Sunshine Coast Showcase Series is very exciting for both our players and staff,” said Panthers general manager Brian Wiebe. “It is an event that provides some good region-wide recognition for our team. Playing a game in Gibsons is a marquee event on the PJHL calendar and the chance to play there for the first time is a significant occasion for our franchise.”

Tickets for the game are available here.
