The Port Moody Panthers today announced the signing of 2006-born defender Callum Sanders for the 2024-25 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.
Sanders, who’s from Port Moody, spent this past season as an alternate captain for the Port Moody Amateur Hockey Association Under-18 A1 team in the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association’s Fraser Valley North League. He was also listed as an affiliate player for the Panthers in 2023-24, getting into five games. Sanders scored his first career PJHL goal in a game against Grandview on Dec. 23, 2023.
He also played in the BC High School Hockey Program for Heritage Woods Secondary School this past spring and tallied two goals and one assist for three points in four games. When it comes to joining the Panthers, Sanders is excited about playing for his hometown junior hockey team. “Port Moody is where my love of hockey began when I was three years old, so it’s very fitting that it all comes full circle.”
“I want to make a positive impact on the team and the league. I would love to be an integral part of the Panthers making the postseason and experiencing success in the playoffs,” added Sanders, who prides himself on being a solid defender who can contribute at both ends of the ice.
“I am a tenacious, hard-working, team player who never gives up. I am a two-way D-man who can block shots and also find the back of the opposing net,” he said. Sanders played for the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy Under-17 Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League in 2022-23, finishing with three goals and six assists for nine points in 16 games.
Sanders joins defender Adam Lian and forwards Brady Beliveau, Dane Svingen-Jones, and Brady Carriere as five incoming players to sign with the Panthers for the 2024-25 PJHL season.
