The Port Moody Panthers today announced the signing of 2006-born goaltender Jovin Manhas for the 2024-25 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.
Manhas spent this past season as a development player with the PJHL’s Surrey Knights. He played one game for the Knights, making 18 saves in a game against Grandview on Oct. 15, 2023.
“I am extremely excited to join the Panthers this upcoming season as I was looking for a team that provides the foundation for continuous development. The Panthers coaches and organization have created a culture that promotes development and opportunity. I can’t wait to get started,” said Manhas, who’s from Vancouver.
In his first full season of junior hockey, Manhas is eager to make an impact. “The goals that I have set for myself are to work hard every practice and earn my minutes. Opportunities are earned and I’ve worked hard in the off-season on and off the ice to come in the best shape possible before the season starts.”
“I also strive to be a great teammate and want to not only be remembered for my play, but also my attitude, respect for my teammates and coaches, and overall work ethic,” explained Manhas. “Finally, my long-term goal is to play college hockey and I truly feel the Panthers organization will support me in my journey.”
Manhas calls himself the type of netminder who never gives up on any shot. “I would describe my game as a hybrid goalie who is constantly analyzing the game, predicting opponents’ moves, and reacting quickly to keep the puck out of the net — a ‘do whatever it takes’ attitude!”
He spent the 2022-23 season with the RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna Under-17 team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League U17 division and finished with a 12-5-1 record, a 2.75 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage, and two shutouts in 19 games.
