Surrey Minor Hockey Association goaltender Rajan Bassi signs with the Panthers

The Port Moody Panthers announced today the signing of 2007-born goaltender Rajan Bassi for the 2024-25 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.

Bassi spent 2023-24 with the  Under-18 A1 Thunder in the Surrey Minor Hockey Association. He was also an affiliate player for the Surrey Minor Hockey U21 A1 Thunder.

“I am extremely excited to join the Port Moody Panthers because it gives me a great opportunity to develop as a goaltender and provides me with a great community to start my junior hockey career, with a dedicated coaching staff and an amazing group of players,” said Bassi, who’s from Surrey.

Bassi is eager to positively influence the Panthers’ in his first full season of junior hockey. “What I hope to achieve in Port Moody is to develop as a goaltender at a higher level of play and I also strive to become a better person by bringing integrity, respect, and commitment to the team.”

He calls himself the type of goaltender who is tenacious and battles hard in every situation. “I am the type of goalie who never gives up on the play and always fights until the final buzzer. I believe I carry a lot of speed and agility in my game, and use that to my advantage in every game I play.”

Bassi also spent the 2022-23 season with the U18 C4 Thunder and served as an affiliate for the U18 A1 team. Wearing number 1, he made his PJHL debut in the Panthers game in Port Coquitlam on Sept. 13 and made 29 saves in just under 44 minutes of action.
