Tong signs with the BCHL’s Coquitlam Express as an affiliate player

The Port Moody Panthers announced today that defenseman Ryan Tong has signed with the Coquitlam Express of the BC Hockey League as an affiliate player.

Tong, a 2004-born blueliner from Burnaby, leads the Panthers in scoring so far this season with seven goals and 12 assists in 16 games. He is tied for second on the Panthers in power play goals and leads the Panthers in power play assists with seven, which is also tied for most in the Pacific Junior Hockey League.

Additionally, his 19 points are tied for sixth among rookie scorers in the PJHL this season and third among all blueliners. Tong’s seven goals are also second-most in the league for a defenseman.

Tong is the first Panthers player this season to be signed by a team at a higher level as an affiliate player.
