The Port Moody Panthers today announced the signing of 2007-born defender Adam Lian for the 2024-25 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.
Lian, who’s from Burnaby, spent this past season with the Vancouver North East Chiefs U18 AAA program in the BC Elite Hockey League U18 division. In 36 games, he tallied one goal and five assists for six points. Lian got into nine playoff games as the Chiefs won the BCEHL U18 Championship and competed for the Pacific Regional Championship, a series against the champions of the Alberta Elite Hockey League, the Calgary Buffaloes.
When it comes to joining the Panthers, Lian is looking forward to his first season of junior hockey. “I’m excited about the opportunity to grow my offensive game and to help me move onto the next level. I’m eager to work with an organization that recognizes my potential and will support me in developing my skills,” said Lian, who describes himself as a solid, two-way defender. “I am a fast, agile defenseman who uses my skating to distribute pucks, move up the ice, and defend. I use my stick and positioning to cut angles and deny zone entries.”
He split the 2022-23 season between the NE Chiefs U17 AAA and U18 AAA teams. Lian had 11 assists in 33 games at the U17 level. He has designs on being a significant play driver from the Panthers blueline. “I want to be lethal on the ice and be able to use my skating to create offense. Being a driving offensive factor is my main goal for this season.” Lian explained.
Lian is the first incoming player to sign with the Panthers for the 2024-25 PJHL season.
