The Port Moody Panthers today announced the signing of 2008-born forward William Song for the 2024-25 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.
Song, who’s from Coquitlam, spent this past season with the Vancouver North East Chiefs U17 AAA program in the B.C. Elite Hockey League U17 division. In 34 games, he tallied five goals and seven assists for 12 points. He was also an affiliate player for the NE Chiefs U18 AAA squad.
“I’ve heard excellent things about the organization, both in terms of hockey and player development. I’m eager to meet new people and can’t wait to get started this year,” said Song when asked why he’s excited about playing in Port Moody with the Panthers.
In his first season of junior hockey, Song has some specific goals to achieve. “I aim to be a versatile player who can handle various situations. One of my main goals for the upcoming season is to improve my physicality and strength.”
Song describes himself as the type of forward who can set up his linemates for prime scoring chances. “I would describe myself as a playmaker who can create opportunities all over the ice. My skill set is another strong asset that I bring to the game,” he said.
He spent the 2022-23 season with the NE Chiefs U15 AAA team and posted seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points in 25 games. Song was also an affiliate for the U17 AAA NE Chiefs that season, notching one assist in a pair of games.
Song joins defenders Adam Lian and Callum Sanders and forwards Brady Beliveau, Dane Svingen-Jones, and Brady Carriere as six incoming players to sign with the Panthers for the 2024-25 PJHL season.
