PoCo Buckeroos alumni Wade MacLeod (2005-06) signed a professional contract with the Manchester Storm of the Elite Ice Hockey League in the United Kingdom on Aug. 19.
The 34-year-old spent the past three seasons battling brain cancer and didn’t play competitive hockey. Tri-City News reporter Mario Bartel has more on MacLeod’s courageous journey here.
Prior to 2018, the Coquitlam, BC product split his time between the American Hockey League, ECHL, and in Germany with DEL2. In 129 career AHL games, he has 20 goals and 58 points. During his time in the ECHL, MacLeod played 104 games and posted 57 goals and 108 points. He also has 59 goals and 110 points in 99 DEL2 games.
During his tenure in Port Coquitlam with the Buckeroos in the 2005-06 season, MacLeod posted an eye-popping 13 goals and 25 points in just 16 games. Midway through the season, he signed with Merritt of the BC Hockey League and played 101 career games for the Centennials before heading to Northeastern University in 2007.
