West Van Academy forward Matthew Ng signs with the Panthers

The Port Moody Panthers are excited to announce the signing of 2005-born forward Matthew Ng for the 2022-23 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.

Ng, who’s from Vancouver, played with West Van Academy U18 Prep team in 2021-22, scoring five goals and nine points in 36 games.

“I am excited about playing with the Panthers because I know that they have a great coaching staff and support system,” said Ng. “I am also excited to learn, grow and develop as a team this year.”

Ng also chipped in with a goal in three Canadian Sport School Hockey League playoff games with West Van and is looking forward to making the jump to junior hockey with the Panthers.

“Some goals I have set for myself for my first year of junior hockey is to continue to get stronger physically and mentally,” explained Ng. “I want to always work hard, compete, and perform to the best of my abilities.”

He prides himself on being a two-way player who can be trusted by his coach in all situations.

“I would describe myself as a full 200-foot player who can play both sides of the puck, skate well with and without the puck, and create offensive plays,” added Ng. “I am good on the forecheck and like to create turnovers.”

Ng joins Nick Dunn as recruited players committed to the Panthers for the 2022-23 PJHL season.
